About halfway through 2025, the ROM’s are 5 minute holds. I’ve seen large improvements in range of motion but have a ways to go to get into the ballpark of having a sufficient level in hamstring, calf, hip flexor, etc that I suspect is necessary to prevent training related tissue tightening from easily reaching the problem child area after a few weeks or months of training. ROM’s sessions are now standardized in the training schedule on 4 days each week. I’ve settled on a 1 day per week strength training session and a 1 day per week [Fridays] run training session format. Given the 1 day per week run training format I’ve gotten rid of the Break Period approach that I’ve had for a couple decades. So basically there’s 7 days between run training sessions and 4 days of long hold stretch sessions. This reverse mindset, doing more stretching than running, particularly in a training velocity oriented, rather than training volume oriented training program, may end up being another necessary split from tradition.
